When Apple built their first generation Nano it included two colors of black and white,it came in 2gb and 4gb memory sizes,had a battery life of 14 hours,was built around integrated circuits that introduced surface mount technology,it supported LCD screen and was scratch proof,these features allowed it to sell a million units the first 17 days it was released.
Apple introduced their second generation of Ipod Nano purple on september 2006 also being scratch proof and came in more colors such as black,pink,green,silver and blue also included click wheel and a battery life of 24 hours.The memory sizes were increased as it came with 2.4gb and 8gb,supported highly used itunes and the weight of the unit was lighter.
Apple debuted their third generation of the Nano on september 2007,coming with 2 inch screen it now used cover flow technology,added was a 24 hour battery backup to be used with audio and the ability to use 5 hours for video,also came with 4gb and 8gb memory,the colors again were increased to red,green,silver,turquoise,pink and black.Design to be stronger it came with aluminum in the front but used steel at the back and now was updated by firmware.
Generation 4 of Ipod Nano purple came on the scene in september 2008 using a design going back to the first generation where they were made narrow and it supported a 2 inch screen display using the same battery backup system,it sported six colors turquoise,green,silver,black,red and pink.Apple brought to the Nano accelerometer technology that was used in the shuffle and Ipod Touch. One added feature is they became eco friendly.
